GOP to sponsor class for concealed carry permit
CINCINNATI (AP) _ The Hamilton County Republican Party plans to sponsor a class for people to qualify for a permit to carry a concealed weapon, the party chairman said Wednesday.
The one-day class will be in late July and will be limited to 25 or 30 people, but details haven't been worked out, said GOP Chairman Alex Triantafilou, who took a similar class two years ago when he was a judge.
Triantafilou said many Republicans are supporters of Ohio's concealed carry law, which requires at least 10 hours of certified training to qualify for a permit.
"We're not doing anything to promote that people get it," Triantafilou said. "It appeals to part of our base as a party. We just wanted to make it available."
