Attorney General Marc Dann resigned Wednesday, just 12 days after three of his top aides lost their jobs in a sexual harassment scandal.

Dann was hoping for a second chance to salvage his administration, but on Tuesday his fellow Democrats filed articles of impeachment against him, and on Wednesday the Ohio inspector general raided his office.

Group reviewing death in Liberty

LIBERTY - The Kent State University Trumbull Campus Public Safety Training and Research Center was hired to review circumstances surrounding the April 28 death of 87-year-old woman who remained locked out of her home while police drove by.

The research center runs the branch's state-certified Police Training Academy.

Strickland to name Dann replacement

Marc Dann's decision to step down from his scandal-ridden administration late Wednesday afternoon has opened the door for replacements to begin lining up to fill the rest of his term that would expire in 2010.

A November special election will be held to select a permanent replacement. In the meantime, Gov. Ted Strickland will name a fill-in.

State begins probe of Dann's office

Ohio's inspector general began his independent investigation of the Attorney General's Office Wednesday, less than 24 hours after the governor signed a bill authorizing the probe.

Attorney general spokesman Ted Hart said investigators were in the Rhodes Tower office about 10 a.m. and during the day.
